Goodbye Japan
Kyoto does not have an airport and is basically a suburb of Osaka. After a good farewell breakfast with some of the people that had not left, we took a van to the airport to wait for our flight. Of course there was some last minute shopping before boarding the plane. Our flight to LA was uneventful and I was able to sleep for most of it. Customs was quick and easy. It turned out my youngest son and his wife were leaving that afternoon from LAX so we got to spend a few minutes before heading off to our destinations. Some final thoughts on Japan. I know a lot of the food pictured in my blog was challenging and mostly unfamiliar to Americans, don't let that scare you off. We were on a culinary tour which meant we were trying very traditional Japanese foods. If you want to avoid that there's plenty of options for food that would be more to your liking.
